SSS Training Academy (SSSTA) is proud to announce a major new collaboration with East Midlands Construction Technical Excellence College (CTEC), led by Derby College Group.
This is a significant milestone for SSSTA. East Midlands CTEC is taking a leading role as a vanguard education partner — placing it at the forefront of testing SSSTA's learning content, gathering feedback and helping shape how the approach can support colleges, learners and employers.
East Midlands CTEC (Derby College Group) has purchased courses to access the platform and is working in collaboration with SSSTA to test the concept and gather feedback to develop learner competence, behaviour and work readiness in line with real employer expectations.
Placing Employer Expectations at the Forefront At the heart of the collaboration is a shared commitment to listening to employers and understanding what they now expect from college leavers, apprentices and the future workforce.
The approach places employer expectations at the forefront — considering what industries need today, how workplace requirements are changing and how learners can be prepared for future developments, from modern methods of construction to green and digital skills. SSSTA's Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behaviours (SKEB) framework provides a practical education-to-employment toolkit. It supports technical learning by developing the wider competence, professional behaviours, responsibility, accountability, communication, safety awareness and decision-making increasingly expected within modern workplaces.
Supporting Progression and Positive Destinations For colleges, successful outcomes extend beyond course completion and qualifications. They include learners becoming confident, capable and prepared to progress into apprenticeships, employment, further training and other positive destinations.
SSSTA's structured and measurable online approach enables colleges to allocate learning, monitor learner progress and support the consistent development of competence and behaviours alongside technical achievement — giving colleges greater visibility of learner engagement while supporting the wider priorities of employability, progression, workplace readiness and positive destinations. Bringing Technical Education and Workplace Readiness Together CTEC's employer-led technical and vocational curriculum provides learners with the technical skills required by industry.
SSSTA adds another important layer by developing the competence, behaviours and decision-making that influence how those skills are applied in practice — helping bridge the space between achieving a qualification and understanding the behaviours, responsibilities and expectations of employment.

Following recent changes to CITB’s grant-claiming process, employer email confirmation is now required before any grant claim can be processed. The previously accepted third-party consent form is no longer sufficient, and CITB will not release grant payments without direct confirmation from the employer. To avoid delays, please ensure the steps below are followed carefully.
