We therefore operate clear procedures to identify, declare and manage such conflicts appropriately. Definition  A conflict of interest arises where an individual’s personal, financial, professional or other interests could improperly influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, their judgement, responsibilities or decision-making. Scope  This statement applies to:

All relevant individuals are required to declare any actual, potential or perceived conflict of interest at the earliest opportunity. Examples include, but are not limited to:

 • Assessing or quality assuring a relative, close associate or colleague

 • Having a financial interest in a supplier, subcontractor or partner

 • Personal relationships that may affect impartial judgement

 • External employment or consultancy that may conflict with company responsibilities

Declarations must be made to senior management and will be formally recorded.  Management and Control  Where a conflict is identified, appropriate control measures will be implemented to protect the integrity of the decision-making process.   These may include:

• Removal from assessment or decision-making activities

• Reallocation of duties

• Independent review or moderation

Failure to declare a relevant conflict of interest may result in disciplinary action and, where appropriate, termination of contractual arrangements. Drug and Alcohol Policy Statement

Action 4 Construction Training Ltd is committed to providing and maintaining a safe, healthy and professional environment for all learners, employees, associates and visitors. The misuse of alcohol or drugs can seriously impair judgement, concentration, coordination and decision-making, increasing the risk of accidents and compromising safety. This is particularly important within a construction training environment where health and safety standards must be upheld at all times.

Policy Principles

We operate a zero-tolerance approach to illegal drug use and to attending training or work under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances. It is strictly prohibited to:

 • Attend training, assessment or work while under the influence of alcohol or  illegal drugs

 • Possess, use, supply or distribute illegal substances on company premises or  during company-related activities

• Consume alcohol during training hours or whilst undertaking company duties, unless expressly authorised for a formally organised event.

Any breach of this policy may result in immediate removal from training or work activities and may lead to disciplinary action. Prescription and Over-the-Counter Medication  Individuals taking prescribed or over-the-counter medication that may impair their ability to participate safely in training or work activities must inform the appropriate responsible person where there is a potential safety risk. All such matters will be handled sensitively and confidentially.

Support and Early Disclosure

We recognise that substance dependency is a health issue. Individuals who voluntarily disclose a concern and seek support will be treated with respect and, where appropriate, supported in accessing relevant assistance.
